The First Walk: SIZ’s Runway Debut

SIZ was founded in 2025 by Samaha Subah, a Bangladeshi brand named in tribute to her parents. Rooted in heritage yet driven by reinvention, SIZ reimagines the timeless art of nokshi katha beyond its traditional form. Long celebrated as a symbol of Bangladeshi craftsmanship, nokshi katha has historically lived within quilts and heirlooms. SIZ challenges this convention, translating its intricate narratives into contemporary, wearable designs. With a vision to push cultural boundaries, the brand crafts timeless pieces that honor Bangladesh’s rich history while seamlessly fitting into modern, everyday wardrobes.

First Runway

SIZ made its runway debut at Arka Fashion Week 2025 with a show that captured the brand’s bold, vibrant spirit in its entirety. More than a presentation of a collection, the runway was conceived as an immersive experience designed to leave a lasting impression long after the final walk.

Every element of the show, from the carefully curated music to the dynamic choreography, worked in harmony with the collection to create an atmosphere charged with energy and intent. This palpable excitement flowed through the space, drawing the audience in and blurring the lines between the runway and the crowd. The visuals had a nokshi katha design, which the founder, Samaha Subah, learned how to do in a very short time.

The models actively engaged with the audience, transforming the show into a shared moment rather than a distant spectacle. It was not simply a runway show but a celebration of SIZ and the fashion community coming together in a moment of collective expression.

Setting the Tone

The runway opened on a powerful note as brand ambassador Nadrun Uzaira stepped forward in a look that instantly captured attention, setting the tone for the show.

She wore a meticulously crafted ensemble that embodied SIZ’s vision. The fitted blouse, detailed with nokshi katha-inspired motifs, highlighted the intricate work of our in-house artisans, while the voluminous skirt unfolded in panels of vivid color and embroidery, each reflecting stories of heritage and craftsmanship. The movement of textures and hues brought tradition to life in a contemporary form.

The beautiful wedding-like jewelry and the traditional Bengali makeup created the perfect balance between grace and boldness. Which has been ingrained in the audience.

Stepping Into New Territories

 SIZ pushed creative boundaries this season with a runway that felt expansive yet intentional, seamlessly branching into wedding wear and children’s apparel. The collection celebrated diversity through inclusive silhouettes and thoughtful design, ensuring something for every aesthetic and occasion.

A standout moment came with SIZ’s contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional saree, worn by Sarara Anjum. By pairing a structured corset with the fluidity of a saree, the brand created a striking hybrid that invites experimentation. Designed with multiwear versatility in mind, the piece is especially suited to the wedding season, where adaptability is essential. The narrative then shifted to a finely crafted nokshi katha dress worn by Protity, featuring a fitted bodice and flowing skirt. Elegant yet effortless, it carried a timeless appeal ideal for wedding celebrations.

As the collection unfolded, SIZ embraced a more playful and experimental spirit. A miniskirt styled with a coordinated top and jacket was adorned with cascading tassels that came alive with movement as Tisa glided down the runway. The one shoulder black dress offered a modern take on the classic little black dress, elevated with a contrasting nokshi katha floral motif and delicate sparkles. Another highlight was the signature SIZ patchwork jacket, reimagined in a cropped silhouette and paired with a matching denim miniskirt, striking a refined balance between heritage and contemporary edge.

Closing on a heartwarming note was a children’s look worn by the youngest model on the runway. Featuring SIZ’s signature nokshi katha pattern and finished with a playful ruffle hem, the piece served as a gentle reminder that craftsmanship and storytelling transcend age.

Stitching Solidarity into Design

SIZ paid a heartfelt homage to Palestine and for the people who are currently living through a genocide. Fashion is always political and through the beautiful strapless dress with nokshi katha patchwork making up the Palestine flag.

This strapless column dress stands as a powerful fusion of fashion and meaning, its sleek silhouette serving as a canvas for storytelling. Panels of richly patterned fabric flow together in harmony, echoing the colors and symbols of Palestine with quiet strength and dignity. The structured form contrasts beautifully with the emotional depth woven into each textile, creating a look that feels both resolute and graceful. More than a garment, the dress becomes a tribute, honoring resilience, heritage, and the enduring spirit of a people through thoughtful design and purposeful artistry.

A Fairytale in Motion

The whole collection was breathtaking, but the outfit that took everyone’s breath away was the off-shoulder ball gown presented by Faiza. This impeccable piece was crafted by their in-house designer, which not only allows artists to explore their creativity but also provides opportunities to young creatives. The gown was a labor of love; it had multiple layers of fabric and the huge circular frame of wire, which gives the dress its shape. 

The dress is a striking fusion of tradition and drama, featuring a voluminous black gown layered over a rich red base adorned with intricate nokshi katha–inspired motifs. Subtle sparkles scattered across the fabric catch the light with every step, while the off-shoulder drape adds a soft, romantic elegance. Regal yet contemporary, the silhouette moves effortlessly, making head turn as it flows down the runway.

As the curtains close on this season, it is clear that this is only the beginning for SIZ. In the span of just one year, the brand has achieved remarkable milestones, carving out a distinct identity through innovation, craftsmanship, and fearless design. With ambitious and exciting plans on the horizon, SIZ shows no signs of slowing down.
